I just discovered that Scorpia, who used to write for the venerable Computer Gaming World in the 80s and 90s, has a website. A website that looks like it’s from the 80s and 90s. Still, great to see she is still present and active.
Thanks for finding this/her.
I used to have a huge collection of CGW issues. They did such a good job of watching/defining the industry — we should all be thankful for Johnny Wilson’s editorial attitude.
The other day I was at a B&N and looked at that gaming mags, and they were all very glossy and very sophisticated and very thin, and on the inside they seemed more interested than being cool than informative.
I think Greg Costikyan was onto something when he said we need better gaming critics — although I found his argument weak — and the first step is probably providing them a space to learn the craft. Where’s the next great gaming publication? (Either print or online.)
Jurie, thanks much for the mention. Ah, those were good days at CGW, and I miss them.
But I’m wondering at your saying “A website that looks like it’s from the 80s and 90s.”. Could you give a little detail about that? Thanks.
Scorpia, perhaps I could have phrased that differently… in any case, I will send you feedback :)
