When I moved from Canada to Sweden, I was shocked at the prices for a new released game. Around 500 Swedish Kronor, which works out to roughly 100 dollars Canadian, is outrageous. At least 40-50 dollars more for the same box, the same title, than North America. I doubt VERY much that localization cost them that much more. This is what I attribute the huge amount of piracy in the Nordic countries to. Digital downloading could ease this a bit but I am not hopeful.

That price is just crazy... I'm pretty happy not to live in Europe. Not only for this game (I won't buy it), but also for any software product (less than 200 euros for my Wii or 30~40 euros each game)

When has that NEVER been the case for anything electronics related. Look at prices on any computer or console in the US and compare it to Europe or UK prices. More often than not, it's a simple changing of the currency sign while the numbers stay the same. On top of that, if I decide I wanted to save money and order from the US, I get charged import tariffs which end up costing MORE than if I had ordered in the UK (!!!) It's beyond ridiculous and forces people to fly over on a cheap flight, buy their gear, and fly back with it smuggled in their luggage.

Yep, these differences between US and UE don't help pricing credibility in terms of production costs. Thus i do the same, i wait generally six months to one year before buying.
