I will give it a try when I get the chance. As for release date: Mizuguchi just announced a delay until spring 2006.

I have to agree about NNN: this truly looked impressive, and after completing the demo I am curious about the full game. As it is still in production (wasn't the shelf date rumoured around 2007) it hardly counts as a launch title, though. I might be wrong, it's just something I heard at the party.

I didn't play it. It looked intriguing and I liked the character design, but the depth of field was a bit too much for me. It looked as if you were beating people up during rush hour. There were a lot of characters on screen, but most of them seemed to be just running around and past you - all except the ones you're hitting with your sword. That seemed a bit weird to me. It struck me more than in, say EA's Lord of the Rings games, which had similar scenes.

did you happen upon Ninety-Nine Nights? that was the only game i was really impressed with there. the demo was incredibly easy to crash and it seemed to happen anytime you'll pull off some massive kill, but i was quite impressed with the graphics. at first glance they didn't look so impressive, but after noticing some of the detail like the enhanced focal blur i was rather impressed, even if there was a bit of flocking.

XBox Roadshow in London, Monday

We Euros don't have the XBox 360 yet. We sit here reading about the frenzy in Best Buy, the crazies spending thousands on eBay, the muggings and the punch-ups, and then we go back to watching Monty Python re-runs...

The blooming was remarkably tasteful. And yes, my statement only referred to the transition to next-gen.

"Depth of field was another over-used effect."
Well, at least it wasn't coated in bloom filter mush, erm, I assum.. erm, hope.

"The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are about behemoths battling for your living room and your wallet, not about advancing interactive entertainment in any meaningful way."
In fairness, consoles have more innovative games than the PC space nowadays (Even if we exclude the Nintendo consoles), but then again this doesn't actually contradict the quoted statement.
